    As a kid the 4th of July was the apex of summer: no school, blowing up firecrackers, BBQ and friends, FREEDOM. Somewhere around our mid 20s it lost a little luster because life gets complicated with work and babies and dull adult stuff. But over the last several years the magic has returned. Adult friends means adult fun times - kicking back and drinking wine while watching the kids mess around like we used to waiting for the fireworks show.

    The 4th of July is synonymous with crisp, cold, white wine (and beer). For every degree over 95° F, we put 2 ice cubes in our Sauvignon Blanc (Jesse's Rule of Summer White Wine Drinking). For BBQ and loved ones, fridge-cooled Pinot Noir or freezer-cold Sauvignon Blanc is perfect. Links to buy some are below.
