When Lucky Rock Wine Co. first started in 2013, there was one clear goal: to create wines of quality, at a fair and affordable price, and a have a damn good time doing it. We take winemaking seriously but refuse to take ourselves too seriously- we will never fit the mold created for us by the wine industry. No overpriced bottles of wine or stuffy old tasting rooms!Lucky Rock debuted with Pinot Noir, because we love the complexity and elegance of the grape + we found some terrific grower-partners who shared our passion for quality. We later added a Sauvignon Blanc (another popular variety) to offer a highly drinkable “patio-pounder” wine with a lot of flavor. We love these wines, but there is still the itch, as nerdy winemakers, to craft additional wines, embrace new techniques, and discover new vineyards. The “Prospecting Series” is our way of keeping the wine business fun and creative for ourselves while providing fans with killer wines from outside our normal lineup. These wines are guaranteed to be something new, taste awesome and represent a crazy value. We ask you to trust us that these will be solid gold… Trust- like the friend you know who is guaranteed to show up to the party rockin’ some fresh ink, or a fedora, and is always a good time.
More about the “Prospecting Series”: This is our yearly, limited release wine- one-of-a-kind; never to be produced from the same vineyard or in the same way again. At the core, this series is about the thrill of prospecting and hitting paydirt. Case productions will be small and thus these wines will be offered mainly to our email list. These wines facilitate grape sourcing with no limits- grape variety, region, or style and allows us to push the limits of creativity and winemaking, and thus keeping our “winemaking bug” alive. Drawing inspiration from the Craft Brewing industry and our blue-collar mining upbringing, the mission of these wines is to find “hidden gems” amongst some of the best vineyards and create the best wines possible while keeping the prices low and affordable. The prospecting series will wear a different skin than our traditional lineup - just as bad ass, but distinct. When you get down to the vein(a little mining jargon), wine is all about enjoyment, quality, and value- We want to be able to take those concepts and put them directly in the bottle.
Nobody likes old bread, so why wouldn’t you keep your wine fresh? Join us while we venture out of the ordinary (a little), explore different varietals, have a good time, all without breaking the bank- Come prospecting with us?
