Tasting Notes

2018 County Cuvee Pinot Noir

An aside from the Winemaker
The 2018 vintage felt like a breath of fresh-air following the hellish fires in 2017. After a smoky vintage, the following vintage- 2018 will bear less fruit. This was the case in some locations. The quality was terrific. The season was warm, but not crazy hot like 2017- so enjoy that.

Production
The wine was aged for 9 months in 100% French oak barrels, of which 10% were new. Production: 2,182 cases, bottled in May of 2019.

  • Rich fruitful nose - SMELLS GOOD.
  • Great palate weight - DOESN’T FEEL LIKE WATER IN YOUR MOUTH.
  • Dark fruits followed by red fruits - CAN’T HELP YOU HERE.
  • Toasty vanilla + cooking spice - FROM BARREL AGING, MOSTLY.
  • Balanced fruit + acid profiles - FROM GOOD WINEMAKING!

2019 County Cuvee Sauvignon Blanc

An aside from the Winemaker
The 2019 vintage was, for us, a knockout. The Sauvignon Blanc, ripening quite a bit earlier, got a good dose of warmth to kick up the fruit, but retain acid.  It had been a wet year, which can create mold and mildew issues, but our vineyard partners open up the canopy to get airflow and drop any crop that is going to be an issue before harvesting.
Production
Sustainably farmed vineyard in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley (100% Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc). The wine was aged for 6.5 months in 60% stainless steel barrels and tanks, and 40% French oak barrels (4% new). Production: 909 cases, bottled on March 17th, 2020

  • Bright tropical fruits + grass on the nose - SMELLS GOOD
  • Clean and crisp with balanced acid - REFRESHING AND FLAVORFUL
  • A touch of roundness due to barrel aging
  • MOUTHWATERING LONG FINISH

2019 County Cuvee Pinot Noir

An aside from the Winemaker
Just as with our Sauvignon Blanc, we had a bit more heat in 2019 which allowed for more ripening. We got a boost of fruitiness, richness and silkiness on the palate. But, due to cooler nights, we still maintained good, balanced acidity .
Production
The wine was aged for 9 months in 100% French oak barrels. Production: 3,092 cases, bottled in September of 2020.

.

  • Rich Dark Fruit +Earth on the nose - SMELLS GOOD.

  • Balanced fruit + acid profiles - FROM GOOD WINEMAKING!

2020 Sauvignon Blanc In 250ml Cans

An aside from the Winemaker
The 2020 vintage? We kinda don’t wanna talk about it… PTSD. It was fixing to be a terrific harvest- with just enough water and what seemed to be a perfect ripening season… then we got our asses kicked by state-wide fires and Covid-19. That said, we took every measure that we could to mitigate any issues. The Sauvignon Blanc was pulled off prior to smoke issues- win.
